Rhyme Time in Canberra

Original animated cartoon by Al Benge comments on Canberra politics. Just lately, the public has witnessed unprecedented political uprest as our politicians engage not in constructive debate, but more in trying to prove that each party is more incompetent than the other. It's about time they got on with governing the country surely ?

Latest cartoon - Pensioners get help with electricity bills

Senior pensioners all over Queensland this winter will be rejoicing with the 'warmth' of the Bligh government's latest helping hand.
As everyone knows, electricity bills are going sky-high. Well, if you fall into an older age group and you're eligible, then you can now allegedly expect another thirty dollars to cope with these shocking price rises.
Every bit helps. Thanks Anna.

E-Tolls for Brisbane motorists - cartoon

From July, motorists in Brisbane will no longer have the option of paying at a toll gate to use selected motorways. Instead, the E-Tolls will be in operation as Queensland falls into line with similar schemes already in place in Sydney and Melbourne.
Much is made of the fact that to register with E-tolls is free. Well, it is and it isn't. It won't cost you anything to establish your 'free' E-Toll account, but in order to do this, you must put a credit of at least $25 on it, to pay for future journeys.
So it ain't really free then. There's not much we can do about it I guess. All that this cartoonist can say is.....I toll you so !

Ozcar scandal - latest Canberra cartoon

The nation's attention has been captured by the extraordinary spectacle of our two main political parties slinging insults in Parliament. Nothing new of course. The email fiasco continues its merry way, with politicians ducking for cover, and apportioning the blame to each other's party.
The Ozcar scandal will eventually blow over , and then one hopes it will be business as usual in Canberra. Hopefully our political leaders can get on with trying to run the country instead. Soap operas are all very well, but isn't it more important to look at more pressing issues ?
